For Immediate Release – GoldSky Security Launches Plans to Franchise
WINTER PARK, FL – February 8, 2018 – GoldSky Security, LLC announced today the official launch of its plans to offer local cybersecurity advisory franchises throughout North America to support the growing demand for cybersecurity and compliance services for small-midsize businesses (SMBs).
Small-midsize businesses make up 99% of all companies in the United States. According to the Verizon Data Breach Investigation Report, 61% of data breaches last year targeted smaller businesses, up from the previous year’s 53%. UPS Capital reported 60% of small businesses fail within six months after a cyber-attack and 90% have no data protection in place for company and client information. This makes them prime targets, as they are considered low-hanging fruit for cyber criminals.
GoldSky Co-Founder Ron Frechette explains, “shortly after the Equifax Breach in 2017, we began to see signs of the SMB world waking up to the reality that investing in cybersecurity is eminent for sustaining long term growth. Our 2017 revenues exceeded 2016 by 10x which is also a strong indicator.”
These statistics present a unique market opportunity for cybersecurity professionals interested in building local businesses to educate and help SMB’s identify critical vulnerabilities and deploy robust cybersecurity defense measures. The primary challenge is creating a business model that offers enterprise level solutions that are affordable for the SMB market, which is exactly what GoldSky has been perfecting.
GoldSky Security founders Dr. Lee Mangold and Ron Frechette have been researching and developing a business model that meets the cybersecurity and compliance needs for SMBs since 2016. GoldSky currently has 3 beta sites operating in Chicago, Denver and Orlando. The company is using the beta sites to finalize its proprietary business model in 2018 with plans to begin offering GoldSky Security franchises in 2019. GoldSky’s business model has captured the attention of several respected information security professionals across the US who have shown an interest in becoming future franchise owners.
Prior to GoldSky, Dr. Mangold worked with government, commercial, and non-profit organizations, developing a diverse profile of successful high-tech projects and security solutions during his 16 years in the cybersecurity industry. His work in these organizations included applied research, technology optimization and integration, security governance and consulting.
Frechette served as part of a HIPAA/HITECH compliance startup team and Director of Business Development with Coalfire Systems for over 4 years. His primary roles included standing up a new healthcare compliance practice and expanding Coalfire’s client portfolio in the Southeastern US and Caribbean. Coalfire was acquired by the Carlyle Group in 2015.
